Evert Taube

There is probably no one who doubts that Evert Taube (1890-1976) can be counted as one of Sweden's national poets. His life's work includes both prose and poetry as well as drawings, watercolors and oil paintings. But it is definitely his beautiful songs that he is best known for. Although Taube clearly placed himself in different artistic traditions, he had difficulty gaining recognition from the Swedish cultural establishment. It was only in the 1950s that he came to charm more significant critics and colleagues, but it started with him becoming something of the court poet of the youth for neo-romantic hearts. While Taube was the poet of the people, he wished throughout his long career to be the poet of the poets. Industrial designer Jan Landqvist is responsible for the idea and design of the series »Swedish literature support«, Landqvist has many years of professional experience from Gustavsberg's factories and has designed everything from porcelain for bathrooms to giftware and plastic products. The bookends are made in Gnosjö, Sweden and are made of cut and bent sheet steel that has been treated with a black, durable powder coating. The dimensions are 15x15 centimeters for the portraits and 10x15 centimeters for the base plate. Designer: Landqvist, Jan
