Straightforward, charming, sharp and ready for any mission – from finely chopping herbs to artistically dicing onions. Hand-forged in Vietnam, this knife is a tribute to the ancient art of blacksmithing and combines tradition with modern kitchen convenience. From peeling to carving: The THANG is an all-rounder for the kitchen With its slim, straight blade, the THANG is a true all-rounder. Thanks to the blade thickness of just 1 mm, it glides effortlessly through vegetables, herbs and even smaller pieces of meat. Its precision is particularly impressive: the straight blade enables particularly fine cuts – ideal for delicate work where every millimetre counts. The shape of the knife seems pleasantly familiar to European hands. Therefore, it is the perfect entry-level knife for you if you want to expand your culinary skills. At just 60 grams, the THANG is a real lightweight, which makes it particularly flexible to handle. The handle, which is firmly connected to the blade by rivets, ensures stability without compromising the lightness of the knife. But be careful: For particularly hard or large items to be cut, we recommend one of our knives with a thicker blade – because even the coolest agent needs a safecracker every now and then. Traditional Nakiri knife shape The THANG is designed in the traditional Nakiri shape. This blade shape has a long tradition in Asian cuisine and is particularly valued for preparing vegetables. The Nakiri blade is characterized by its straight cutting edge and rectangular shape. This geometry allows you to let the entire blade rest evenly on the cutting board – this is especially helpful when cutting vegetables. With a straight blade like this one, you can effortlessly make precise, clean cuts without crushing or squashing the vegetables. The flat blade also ensures that you do not have to cut in a rocking motion, but rather make straight cuts that leave the material being cut intact. Another advantage of the Nakiri shape is its width, which makes it easy to transfer cut vegetables from the blade directly into the pot or pan. The THANG offers you three blade lengths for every need THANG comes in three different blade lengths: 12 cm, 16 cm and 20 cm. With the 12 cm version you get an agile all-rounder for precise peeling and cutting of small ingredients. The 16 cm version is ideal as a versatile kitchen knife that can effortlessly handle both vegetables and smaller pieces of meat. The 20 cm version, however, offers you more range. It's perfect for processing larger ingredients like cabbage or chunkier pieces of fruit - in case you want your next family meal to be a little more extravagant. To ensure you are optimally prepared for all cutting tasks, simply choose all three blade sizes. Carbon steel with style: Blackened to prevent stains Our AUTHENTIC BLADES are made entirely by hand by small family businesses in Vietnam. Each handle is carved by hand and the blades are cut out with large tin snips without punching. The blade of the THANG is made of carbon steel. The material allows the blade to be ground particularly sharply and you can even resharpen it easily. You can find out how this works in our guide “Knife sharpening”. However, carbon steel is not rustproof and therefore requires a little more attention: ● Clean your carbon steel knife after use and dry it thoroughly. ●Do not clean it in the dishwasher as this may cause rust stains. ● ÖLubricate it regularly with a suitable knife oil. You can find further information about the special features of Asian knives in our article “Knives made of carbon or steel”. carbon steel”. The upper part of the knife blade is blackened, which not only looks good but is also extremely practical. The blackened area protects the blade from visible stains caused by essential oils such as those found in onions, garlic or ginger. Whether as a kitchen knife, paring knife, vegetable knife or all-purpose knife – the THANG is always there when it comes to working precisely and efficiently in the kitchen. A knife that impresses with its versatility and sharpness and should not be missing from any well-stocked kitchen.
