Jade 1901 Absinthe Supérieure is made in the Combier distillery, more than 180 years old, located in Saumur. The recipe was developed by "Ted" Breaux. originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, he is considered one of the finest absinthe distillers in the world. Jade 1901 represents the second version of Jade Liqueurs which has been carefully reverse-engineered from antique sealed bottles with a historic Pontarlier mark of the original spirit, several intact examples of which remain in the archives Recreated in homage to a sample of absinthe widely distributed before prohibition, this absinthe is an homage to the original produced around 1901. HASAt the height of its existence, the original brand was a global export and was widely regarded as a leading example of the category. When Switzerland and France banned absinthe production in the early 20th century, some of the original distilleries were liquidated. HASAt that time, the Combier distillery verifiably purchased two 1,100 liter copper absinthe stills from the original Pontarlier distillery and installed them alongside the eight smaller stills that had been part of the distillery since Gustave Eiffel redesigned it in 1894. The importance of this history and the authenticity of these ancient absinthe stills was particularly important when Ted Breaux chose the Combier distillery as the most suitable location to distill the Jade vintage absinthe clones. This is a classic vintage-style absinthe, balanced and lively, with a stimulating herbal aroma and a sweet, lingering aftertaste reminiscent of the splendor of Parisian cafés during the Belle Époque. It is worth noting that when a large cache of the pre-ban original was discovered in recent times, a few bottles were found to be in a remarkable state of preservation, retaining much of their color and freshness original. Those who had the chance to taste them were unanimous in their remarks regarding the striking similarities between the vintage bottles and the Jade 1901 Absinthe Supérieure from Distillerie Combier.
