
Quinoa is a herbaceous plant native to South America, also widely used in Italy as an alternative to rice. Oltresole organic white quinoa, in the 5 kg convenience pack, comes from selected and certified organic crops, perfect for a healthy and balanced diet. Rich in vegetable proteins and essential amino acids, quinoa stands out for its high nutritional value despite its low fat content. It contains fiber, vitamins C and E, magnesium, potassium, iron and omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, making it ideal for vegetarian, vegan and low-calorie diets. The white variety, compared to the red or black ones, has a more delicate flavour and is suitable for many preparations. Before use, it is recommended to rinse the beans well under running water to eliminate the saponins naturally present. For optimal cooking: lightly toast the grains in a pan, then add 2 parts water for every part quinoa, bring to the boil and cook over low heat for 10–12 minutes, until the liquid is absorbed. Quinoa can be enjoyed as a base for salads, as a substitute for rice, or as an ingredient for veggie burgers, soups, fillings and alternative desserts.
