Etna Red Roots

Discover the typical scents of the very famous Etna Rosso, a wine grown on the slopes of the most active and highest volcano in Europe.   Our wine is grown in the traditional way: in Alberello, all the work is done manually, with great effort but above all with great attention to obtain the best quality from the grapes that will make up this wine.   We grow the indigenous varieties of Etna, in this case the wine is composed of the classic blend of the Etna DOC: Nerello mascalese 80% and Nerello cappella 20%.   We work in the cellar and in the vineyard with full respect for nature to obtain a wine consistent with the vintage and the territory.   This wine ferments in steel, and then stops in two types of wood: 500l chestnut barrels (a wood, now rare, but traditionally used on Etna) and 225l French oak barriques with woods chosen from the best forests and with a light toasting so as not to ruin the fruit aroma.   This wine presents itself with great elegance right from the color, a transparent, brilliant ruby red with garnet reflections.   On the nose it varies from notes of small red fruits to slightly spicier scents that recall the volcano with light hints of graphite and Sicily with nuances of blood orange.   It is easy to drink in the mouth as it has a medium body and is intriguing thanks to its persistence and its present but smooth tannins.   Overall harmonious, the more you drink, the more you would drink.   We recommend pairing it with a tasty, fatty meat, for example a Nebrodi black pig fillet with reduction, accompanied by seared green herbs.   Also excellent simply as an aperitif paired with cured meats.
