More than 35 years ago, Joao Mendes bought a farm in Perdoes, MG to support his family. Difficult times came and brought about the decline of coffee cultivation. Joao began growing sugar cane to produce cachaca. And so Cachaca Joao Mendes was born. Today the company is run by his children, but all his care and passion go into this excellent quality cachaca, which today bears his name and has won several awards. The Cachaça João Mendes Carvalho is aged for 4 years in oak barrels. Distillation takes place in copper stills, using only the heart of the cachaça (about 80% of total production). It has a persistent woody taste with notes of apple, syrup and almonds and a balanced alcohol content. The sugar cane is harvested without burning in order to protect nature. The raw material is cut, transported and ground on the same day, which guarantees the highest quality of the product. The fermentation process takes place in an air-conditioned room to prevent the proliferation of fungi and bacteria.
