Malabar black pepper

Our Malabar black pepper is grown near Kothamangalam (a municipality located in the Indian state of Kerala, 60 km from Cochin, an emblematic port in the history of spices), on the Malabar coast. Malabar pepper is a berry that grows in clusters. It is harvested before maturity, then dried. MG1 (Malabar Garbled 1) is a reference caliber of black peppers developed for decades by spice merchants. The Malabar coast would surely be the region from which Malabar black pepper originates. The navigators who went to look for the precious pepper during the excursions of the Silk Road would have brought cuttings back to Asia, the Antilles etc., to try to cultivate it in lands more accessible by boat. Malabar Fingourmets black pepper is grown with respect for the environment and the ecosystem that surrounds it and the workers who grow it are protected by the cooperative with which they collaborate. We work directly with farmers and cooperatives and all our spices are from the latest harvest. We pick up the Malabar black pepper immediately after drying to ensure good quality storage so that it does not deteriorate.
