Aromatic profile: cocoa, red fruits blackcurrant raspberry, fondant, bitterness, sweet, harmonious, grilled almond dried fruits and walnuts. Ingredients: cocoa beans*, blond cane sugar*(1) *ingredient from organic farming (1) fair trade ingredient Founded in 2010, Maya Mountain Cacao works with more than 350 families of small-scale certified organic cocoa farmers in the Toledo and South Stann Creek districts, most of whom are indigenous Q'eqchi' and Mopan Maya and have been producing cocoa for generations. All cocoa is centrally processed in a post-harvest facility where three unique sun-drying stages create optimal flavor. Through genetic testing, we know that the majority of cocoa grown by families in the farming network are Amelonado-dominant hybrids and other Forastero hybrids from the Upper Amazon. The farmers produce a particularly delicious and sweet cocoa that creates a real positive impact for the communities of southern Belize.
