Cultivated in Persia for over 3,500 years for its vibrant color and for its leathery, herbaceous scent, Saffron has spread around the Mediterranean and traveled to the European, Chinese and Indian subcontinent. Everywhere it takes on a very strong symbolic value. Likened to gold and eternal life by the Greeks, to the flame of knowledge by Hindus and Buddhists, this “red gold” gives our Safran its assertive character and its impression of supple and elegant leather.
