The history of Cortijo Olivar del Desierto begins in 1993, when Rafael Ubeda, at 57 years of age, synonymous throughout his life with perseverance and dogmatic struggle, discovered that large extensions of land that were abandoned next to the desert, in his hometown Tabernas, were the ideal place to realize a dream, "A large olive plantation next to the main desert in Europe" The following year, in 1994, his son Rafael Úbeda Ramal joined the project, at the age of 29, contributing to the project his knowledge in business management, marketing and commercialization, acquired in his previous stage in the fashion sector. From this moment on, together they began a project that combined experience and modernity, transferring to the crops the most advanced agricultural research that existed in the olive grove and the extraction of olive oil.
