The history and background of the farm and surroundings of the Cortijo de Calatrava "Las Calatravas" begins with the reconquest of these places by Fernando III el Santo, who after the disputes, began to repopulate and grant privileges among the three hundred infanzones who helped him. to take the cities of Baeza and Úbeda; as well as among various military Orders, mainly, that of La Merced and that of Calatrava. In this way, after the capitulations of the city of Úbeda (in 1234), the monarch rewarded the latter with certain arable lands and vineyards in a place near the city, located between the Valdecanales stream, Santa Eulalia, the current La Carolina highway and several non-existent towers today.
