EDOUARD DELAUNAY-SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE "THE VILLAGE" RED 2018

The reds of Savigny are for us the introduction to the red villages of the Côte de Beaune. They are easy wines at first, expressive, frank and fresh, which willingly assert a certain character. Our cuvée comes from a plot located at an altitude of 250m on the foothills of the alluvial fan of the Rhoin river which crosses the village, facing the Montagne de Corton. The subsoil is made up of marl rich in clays, which brings finesse but also power to the wine. The harvest is completely destemmed and the vinification is done using indigenous yeasts for 15 days. Aging in oak barrels for the entire cuvée lasts about 12 months, with 20% new barrels. The nose is expressive, complex, both fruity (cherry, crunchy fruit) and spicy (cinnamon, gingerbread). We also perceive some notes of undergrowth (humus, fresh herbs). The palate is rich and fruity (raspberry, cherry), velvety, worthy of a Premier Cru. The finish is fresh, almost minty and ends with elegant tannins.
