Podie is a Sri Lankan cooperative created in 1974 supporting producers to make a decent living from their production while respecting the environment: sustainable agronomic techniques, fair remuneration, infrastructure development. •Spice production while respecting biodiversity. 

The technical support provided to producers encourages them to diversify their crops in order to promote the creation and protection of local biodiversity. 

This is also a source of securing their income. 

Everybody wins ! •An approach that goes further than agricultural production. 

The spices are packaged on site by the Podie cooperative which employs women living in very precarious conditions. 

They benefit from a fair salary, professional training, a retirement fund, and medical expenses are reimbursed.
