Marjoram is an aromatic, woody perennial herb native to Cyprus Southern Turkey now found commonly growing in Mediterranean countries. It has a softer flavour than Oregano is soft sweet tasting. It has even been likened to the flavour of sage, rosemary thyme all rolled into one. It also pairs well with spicy foods, especially in North Italy where Marjoram is preferred over Oregano. In certain cuisines, it appears with salt, pepper paprika on the table for seasoning food. A sprinkle over pizza or feta cheese with a drizzle of Sicilian Lemon oil is one of our favourite ways to use it, as well as in a Greek salad or with barbecued meats or fish.
