Derw Coffee is Wales’ first cold brew coffee producer. Our premium, ethically sourced beans are roasted in North Wales, and in the heart of Anglesey, they are given 16 hours to work their brewing magic in fresh Welsh water. The result is an award winning, exceptionally smooth cold brew coffee which has an intense depth, but not the bitterness and acidity of hot brewed coffee.
The pure cold brew is used to create Derw’s liqueur which has gained a loyal following and won multiple awards. It has 75% less sugar than most liqueurs and is therefore light and aromatic rather than syrupy. It is delicious on its own, over ice, in cocktails like espresso martinis and white Russians, or desserts like affogato and tiramisu. The liqueur's infusion with tonka bean provides aromatic tasting notes of vanilla, coconut and clove rising from Derw’s distinctive depths. The flavours balance perfectly in the liqueur and take you on a unique taste journey from a bold beginning, to a fragrant finish.
We work with local suppliers and companies, and use quality ingredients which are as natural as the Anglesey countryside. Derw’s brand and creations have been influenced by the diverse background of its founders, Chris and Intan, who are from Wales and Bali. They had been living in Indonesia for 6 years when the pandemic struck, and they had to cancel their wedding three days before it happened and fly back to UK to care for Chris' terminally ill father. They have always loved coffee and decided to do something positive despite the challenging time, and so Derw Coffee was born. 'Derw' means 'oak tree' in Welsh, which was Chris' father's favourite tree. Sadly, he did not get to see the brand or product, but Chris and Intan are sure he would have been proud.
