In 2008, Alexandre Gabriel caused a sensation by offering an aged gin for the tasting of a privileged few. No one had seen a single bottle of it for a good century. However, before the arrival of concrete or stainless steel, gin only traveled in barrels. Citadelle “Réserve” thus heralds the rebirth of golden gins! After several years of experimentation, he discovered the ideal formula through 5 months of aging in acacia, mulberry, cherry, chestnut and French oak barrels. At the end of this aging, the blend is refined in an egg-shaped oak barrel 2.45 meters high! The perfect shape of this blending tank creates natural convection allowing harmonious, delicate integration and mixing of the gin from different wood species. An avant-garde technique in line with the spirit of Maison Ferrand, since Citadelle is the only spirit to date to use this aging process in France. This particular aging and bottling at 45.2% tends to intensify the juniper and citrus notes of Gin Citadelle Réserve as well as to enhance its finesse and softness on the palate.
