Spelled is a cereal belonging to the grass family, low in fat and high in protein, ideal for those who follow low-calorie diets or want the right dose of energy before sporting activity. Oltresole pearled spelled grains are produced in Italy, from organic cultivation. Pearled spelled differs from raw spelled due to the absence of the external film and a simpler and faster cooking method, but it is still rich in fibre, mineral salts and vitamins. No need to soak: just rinse it under running water to eliminate any residue and cook it in water (proportion: one part cereal, two parts water) for about 30-40 minutes. Once cooked, we recommend waiting ten minutes before seasoning it, so that it absorbs the water well. It can also be steamed or toasted. Oltresole pearled spelled is a very versatile cereal, which can be used as the main ingredient in salads, side dishes or to prepare tasty fish or vegetable dishes.
