Fresh PGI Planifolia vanilla from Réunion

Reunion Island lives up to its reputation in the preparation of vanilla pods. It is also there that vanilla was pollinated manually for the first time; which allowed its development throughout the world. Reunion Island even has an IGP. Its volcanic soil and tropical climate are considerable assets for the cultivation of vanilla. Precursors of different maturing methods, Reunion planters do not lack know-how and innovation to offer us excellent vanilla, whether traditional Bourbon, frosted, or like here, fresh and 100% edible! Our fresh vanilla comes from two plantations: “Escale bleue”, whose process and name “Vanille Bleue” are patented; and the “Louis Leichnig” plantation, which is one of the oldest planters on the island. These two plantations work their pods with patience and passion without overloading the vines in order to offer us supple, fleshy pods, full of flavors and rich in essential oils. Their maturing for 12 to 24 months gives them powerful notes of fruit and caramel. They are suitable for desserts and go well with meats, but above all, they can be added beforehand cut into pieces in your preparations since they are 100% edible.
