How it all began...
Emil Scheibel was born on the 11th.11.Born in 1899 in the small Black Forest village of Kappelrodeck. 

No wonder that with so many “schnapps figures” their life path in the schnapps industry was predetermined. 

Only a small detour, taking over the local grain mill run by the Scheibel family, took him away from the path in life he had planned.
 
The chronic lack of money of the Black Forest farmers, who preferred to pay in kind in the form of home-distilled kirsch, led to Emil Scheibel joining the Black Forest schnapps.  ‘I could drown in liquor! 

Where to put the stuff?“,He is said to have once said, not yet realizing that he had had the inspiration of his life. 

The distilling rights that the family owned, but which had previously only been used to cover their own needs, offered him the opportunity to enter the distilling industry himself.
 
In 1921, at the age of 22, Emil Scheibel bought an old Black Forest farm, which is still the company's headquarters today, founded the Emil Scheibel Schwarzwald distillery there and created the basis for a business that, under his heirs Louis and Michael Scheibel, made the name a trademark for Black Forest brandies were made.

We are the only commercial company in Germany that still distills over fire, as we did a hundred years ago. 

This creates fires with a unique character!
 
HANDWORK
Many of our work processes are still done by hand, just like in the old days. 

This is actually the case, because this is how we manage to make our premium spirits noticeably different to the consumer from the mass-produced products of many competitors.
