The Märkische Specialty Distillery was only opened in 2010 and is therefore one of the youngest distilleries in Germany. It is very picturesque in a former, lovingly prepared forge in a suburb of Hagens on the northern edge of the Sauerland. The first whiskey was distilled on the opening day. The ripening usually takes place in the depths of the Dechenhöhle at a constant temperature and high humidity. Distillers description: Colour: light gold, winter sun Nose: grainy, warm spicy notes, apple and orange peel, Taste: intense spicy notes like cardamom and nutmeg, some vanilla, very grainy, apple peel, later also slightly peppery, Finish: the grain note lingers in the aftertaste, the spicy notes intensely warm the middle of the tongue and sound almost oily, the warmth is chili-like This whiskey has power! Not only because of the high alcohol content! Also because of its intense malt and spicy notes, which are warming and oily on the tongue. Additional, fruity oranges and zest aromas, paired with vanilla and a little chilli, make it the ideal companion for the cool season. Each barrel has a different strength and tastes different. There is not the same cask strength again. A real one-of-a-kind!
