LES JAMELLES-MOURVEDRE ROUGE

Probably of Spanish origin, the Mourvèdre migrated to the French coasts in the Middle Ages, where it found a climate favorable to its development. It is a very great southern grape variety grown exclusively on the shores of the Mediterranean coast, from Perpignan to Fréjus, where it produces some of the finest wines in the region. It requires sunshine, heat and proximity to the sea to give the best. Mourvèdre is above all a demanding grape variety with a delicate culture. Vinified in red, it makes it possible to obtain colored wines of very high quality, aromatic, spicy and structured, suitable for aging. Vinified in rosé, it gives structured and complex wines. With a beautiful intense red color with purple nuances, Mourvèdre Les Jamelles has a very fruity first flavor with aromas of strawberry, peach and currants. It has spicy scents reminiscent of the garrigue, notes of marzipan, honey, lavender, thyme and bay leaf, as well as a touch of roasted meat. On the palate, it is surprisingly long and fat with well-balanced tannins. The almost sweet finish gives an impression of softness and velvet. The spicy and garrigue notes are present from the attack to the finish. It is a wine that has a lot of character and power. Serve at 18°C. Catherine Delaunay likes to pair Mourvèdre with a lamb tagine, pepper steak, game or moussaka. It will also go wonderfully with cheese, especially goat cheese.
