HISTORY The great typicality of our gins comes from the ancestral method of manufacturing, generally used for the making of Cognacs or Whiskies, the art of blending. This technique, widely used in the wine world, is part of the DNA of Maison Mounicq and consists of blending different eaux-de-vie to create a single exceptional spirit. Avem Gins are experimental gins made from grape varieties from the prestigious Bordeaux region (Cabernet-Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sémillon). Ajaja is a unique gin, aged in an old wine barrel, only 806 bottles available. DESIGN Avem gins are the result of a collaboration between the Nadé brothers, founders of Maison Mounicq, and Christophe Gauville, Master Distiller of the Des Moisans distillery, located in the town of Sireuil near Cognac. We created three eaux-de-vie before seeking the perfect osmosis between them. The first is made from juniper berries, the second is made with all our aromatic plants and herbs, and the third is made exclusively with grape varieties from the Bordeaux region. Ajaja is a gin aged for 10 months in a single barrel from Clos Candelayres, the half-hectare property of Emmanuel Martellon (Axel's Godfather). A red wine made exclusively from Merlot in the Fronsac St Emilion appellation. AROMATIC PROFILE Our Aged Gin is the link between the world of spirits and the wine world. Subtly infused with the tannins of Bordeaux wine and the wood of the barrel, Ajaja is a gourmet and balanced gin. The entry into the mouth is fresh, with citrus and red fruits. In the middle of the tasting, a beautiful bitterness dominated by juniper surfaces but melts delicately thanks to the finesse of the Bordeaux grapes, giving an extremely round finish and a pleasant length. Aging in red wine barrels brings sweetness and roundness to the spirit while harmonizing the notes of the gin. This unique creation, made in a limited edition, should surprise you!
