The Stevnsbaer cherry
The variety, which is over a hundred years old, comes from Denmark and was named after the town of Stevns near Copenhagen. The cherry captivates with its dark red to black color and its distinctive aroma, but is not widespread in cultivation in Germany. It is only cultivated by very few farms, as it is very difficult to harvest because of its small fruits and the yields fluctuate greatly from year to year.
