In the early 1960s, the Kinderlen family began importing wine from Italy.
The love for the product was passed on to the children, and after 25 years of name, son Johannes Kiderlen took over the import company of the family, after completing his studies in Beverage Technologies.
In one of his first orders, Johannes accidentally ordered far too much sherry—which would have forced him to throw out a good portion. Then he came up with the intuitive solution to fill old barrels with the sherry, and advertise locally for customers to bring their own bottle and fill it 'from the barrel'. Customers were enthusiastic, and the first idea for VomFASS was born.
In the years since, Johannes has reorganized the family business, focusing on five main product groups: pure fruit vinegars, extra virgin oils, select wines, excellent liqueurs and unique spirits - all chosen based on Johannes' uncompromising quality standards.
And of course... all tapped from the barrel!
