From the cocoa tree to the bar, Diogo Vaz offers vintage chocolates, exceptional in the mouth and with unique aromas. Located in Africa, in the heart of the island of São Tomé and Principe, the Diogo Vaz company produces its cocoa while respecting the environment and valuing the population.

Two centuries of know-how
The story of Diogo Vaz begins in 1880 in the heart of the paradise archipelago of São Tomé and Principe. Located in the west of Africa, close to the equator and protected by a unique vegetation setting. The Diogo Vaz cocoa forest covers more than 420 hectares. The richness of the volcanic soil and its climate make it a terroir for producing cocoa that is unique in the world. After the abolition of slavery, Sao Tome and Principé became the world's leading cocoa producer in 1910 with 35,000 tonnes. Due to its historical development, this small African country is then named Chocolate Island.

After its redevelopment in 2014, Diogo Vaz built his plantation respecting its heritage and ancestral know-how. Within the Diogo Vaz adventure, a passionate team of Basque-Landais people are working to introduce people to this unique chocolate and build the world of tomorrow.

Today, Diogo Vaz is one of the oldest orchards on the island. It relies on investments in innovation in order to strive towards ever greater excellence. Between the two cocoa harvest seasons, the local team takes care of the trees so that each vintage is sublimated. Through its history, its passion and its territorial roots, DIOGO VAZ has created an exceptional cocoa with unique aromas.
