The origins of our property date back to the Gallo-Roman period. It took its name from a farmer-general collector who had a pretty castle built in the 18th century in the former town of St Trélody. It is in particular thanks to the association "the circle of the dreamers of History" that an important collection of archaeological objects has been brought together, illustrating the centuries of activities present on the property. From a flint scraper, dating from the Palaeolithic era, to the thimbles that helped to suck up the vines, these little treasures of daily life are a magnificent showcase of local history. They are also a sign that many of our ancestors chose - not by chance - to take up residence in these lands which are still so hospitable today.
In 2019, two Czech wine enthusiasts bought the Château d'Escot and then began a gigantic work of restructuring the vineyard, which until then had been almost abandoned.
They are convinced of the originality and tremendous potential of this exceptional place.
Located in the town of Lesparre-Médoc, 60 km north of Bordeaux, Château Escot has indeed a magnificent terroir, one of the oldest on the peninsula. The Médoc, a mythical wine-growing region, serves as a setting for the property, located between the ocean and Gironde.
The 25 hectares that make up the Escot vineyard are made up of 60% Cabernet-Sauvignon, and 37% Merlot, 3% Petit-Verdot, a typical blend of great Médoc wines. The variety of our soils contributes to the complexity and richness of our wines: ranging from clay, limestone and sand, cold terroirs, favoring a slow maturity of the grape and giving it great aromatic qualities; with gravelly soils on the edge of the estuary favoring a good maturity of the grapes thanks to the mild and temperate climate and a good drainage of rainwater obliging the roots to feed deeply and thus bringing a beautiful concentration and aromatic complexity.
