Cumin is an aromatic plant whose seeds are used on many occasions around the world: cumin is part of a majority of spice blends such as curry, colombo or ras-el-hanout, it is found in Edam and Gouda cheeses in the Netherlands, and it season many typical regional dishes such as couscous, tagine, chili con carne, empanadas, etc. Cumin can be used both whole and ground. Its warm and spicy, slightly bitter flavor goes ideally with vegetables (carrots and cabbage in particular), lamb, chicken, fish and sauces.
