Duhomard is an aperitif brand created in 1926 in the Thouars region in Deux-Sèvres.
The long history of Duhomard was born from a prank played on a traveler during the famous Massais banquet in the 1920s: during one of the famous fishing trips, the traveler Emile Diacre pulled a red lobster out of the waters of the Argenton. The traveling salesman had fallen asleep after enjoying a meal. As a catch, his banquet companions had hooked a red (and therefore necessarily red) cooked lobster from the restaurant across the street to the end of his fishing line.
A few years later, Emile DIACRE, the famous fisherman, created a red aperitif, which he humorously named Duhomard in memory of this prank.
Today, this traditional Quinquina-based aperitif represents the culture and tradition of the Poitou and Deux-Sèvres region.
Taken over in 2011 by Les Jardins de L’Orbrie, to maintain the memory and develop the humorous spirit of the brand, Duhomard offers a complete and modern range around the aperitif.
Carrying the values of conviviality and sharing, Duhomard revives traditional wine-based aperitifs with a touch of crustacean humor: the Rouge Amer aperitif, “L’Original”, the one and only one that perpetuates the memory of Thouarsais purists; “Le Blanc” made with sweet wine which is the perfect ally for aperitifs or desserts; “Le Cerise” which gives a little tangy touch to your cocktails or meals.
With the organic Spritz, Duhomard is also a new interpretation of the aperitif with modern, ready-to-drink cocktails.
Duhomard is finally the best friend of mixologists for modern and fresh blends: the recipes of Duhotonic, Dukir and Ducanari will make aperitifs irresistible!
