La Saline des Châteaux is the story of a man who fell in love with the island of Noirmoutier 3 years ago and who decided to convert to agriculture in the production of salt. Currently the saline is made up of 12 carnations, 5 are added this fall on the Hilaire à l'Epine marsh.
An emblematic trade on the island of Noirmoutier, the salt worker actively participates in the preservation of the environment and local biodiversity. Hand-harvested salt is one of the very few products that is not industrialized. Without any preservative or any transformation, the salt produced on the French Atlantic coast is a product with no impact on the environment. On the contrary, the saltworks contribute to maintaining the unique biodiversity present in the salt marshes, fauna, flora, landscape. Through this job, I want to respect traditions and perpetuate know-how.
Our salt is harvested by hand in an artisanal and traditional way without any industrial process. Our salt is harvested, sorted, dried and packaged on the marsh by us at L'Epine on the island of Noirmoutier. Our salt has no additives or treatment, it is totally pure.
We take special care in our packaging to avoid plastic as much as possible.
