The Domaine de la Rouvière is located on the right bank of the Rhône, in the Gard, 10km from Avignon and 10km from the Pont du Gard. The estate consists of 35 hectares of vines all certified organic and biodynamic. The Côtes du Rhône and Signargues appellations have been run by the Jauffret family for 4 generations.
The estate takes its name from the 60 hectares of gall oak woods (hence its name Domaine de la Rouvière) which are also part of the property. The environmental objective of preserving the fauna and flora finds its full meaning here...
The vineyard is located 150m above the Rhône, the climate is Mediterranean, hot and dry. Our terroir is also accompanied by the Mistral. This wind travels almost the entire Rhone Valley. It can blow in gusts up to 150km!
The soils of La Rouvière are found in one of the old beds of the Rhône, rich in old alluvium (sedimentary deposits) dating from the Villafranchian period. Our famous rolled pebbles play the role of natural geothermal energy (they retain heat and coolness).
The estate works with total respect for its fauna and flora by practicing biodynamic agriculture. By working with the living, the vines find a balance with the woods that surround them. These woods are also a refuge for animals and insects typical of the region (wild boars, foxes, partridges, hares, cicadas, bees, hoopoes, etc.)
