In the Piedmontese Alps, in Pomaretto in Val Germanasca, the Bernard family produces liqueurs from mountain herbs and flowers.
The history of the family: “Giacomo Bernard & Figli” is written on each label.
It was great-grandfather Giacomo who started it all in 1902, producing soda and alpine herb liqueurs, together with his sons Arturo and Fernando. Then it was Giacomo's turn, now Enrico, who climbs the mountains to collect herbs with his son. His name is James.
The manufacturing process comes from the family history, the one you learn as a child.
The main ingredients, those from nature: spring water, grain alcohol, alpine flowers and herbs. Nothing else.
Everything in its time: We collect the herbs and flowers from May to September, at the height of their "balsamic time", the brief and unrepeatable moment of each season when the plants contain the greatest quantity of active substances. We let them dry slowly and naturally in the air of the Alps, which comes from the Germanasca stream that flows under our windows.
Then we put them in a cold infusion in European wheat alcohol, cane sugar and in the water of a spring that flows right above the historic headquarters in Pomaretto.
Calmly, naturally. Without adding flavourings, neither synthetic nor natural. Since 1902.
