In 1999 Benito Petrillo, an expert in publishing, but also an attentive lover of the Irpinia territories, driven by an act of love towards his three nieces, decided to buy about 2 hectares of land, of volcanic origin. For this project he chose soils rich in sulphur, close to a hill that is always kissed by the sun and located in Prata Principato Ultra, whose biological and cultural wealth is inestimable.

The Calafè project conceived by Benito Petrillo was conceived to preserve and pass on the great priceless heritage of this terroir to future generations. This is why Calafè bears in its name the greatest act of love that a grandfather can do towards his grandchildren.
Calafè is the syllabic acronym of the names of Benito Petrillo's granddaughters: Camilla, Laura and Federica who carry in their DNA this precious load of passion and faith in the future and in the beneficial force of an area of infinite value called Irpinia.
