Our agricultural company Azienda Agricola Mantenera was founded in 2014, guided by the desire to live immersed in nature and give a human dimension to our lives.
We moved to Southern Italy in Basilicata in a place that won us over for the beauty of the landscape and nature, so we gave life and dignity back to an old, partly centuries-old olive grove, which surrounded by holm oak and oak woods is part of the area of respect for the Galiipoli Cognato Piccole Dolomiti Lucane Park.
We firmly believe that nature should not be forced with chemical or mechanical means, which is why we have chosen not to carry out mechanical tillage of the soil, also because by having the land on a slope we thus avoid run-off and impoverishment of the soil, through chopping the herbs we maintain the entire grassy surface obtaining numerous advantages, fertilization through mulching, reduced need for irrigation and reduced CO2 emissions, the sustainability cycle is completed by the packaging of our products being entirely recyclable, all our products are collected by hand.
Our products
Mantenera extra virgin olive oil is marketed under two distinct labels Mantenera Biologico and Mantenera Secolare. ANDthe result of a work of Italian conservation, tradition and innovation. The love and passion that guides us have given rise to high-quality, internationally acclaimed products.
Mantenera Biologico is a blend of Coratina Majatica and Leccino which has won numerous awards internationally since 2019, obtaining numerous awards: Silver Medal 2019 Gold Medal 2020 Extra Gold Medal 2021 Gold Medal 2022 in the BIOL Prize International Competition the oil has medium intense green fruity characteristics with very low acidity and high polyphenols and production chain entirely tracked in Blockchain with QR Code scannable on the bottle.
Mantenera Secolare is our new born, it is Movovarietale Majatica, produced entirely from the Majatica cultivar, a sweet olive with dual aptitude for table and oil with a delicate and medium bitter taste, green fruity herbaceous notes, the Mantenera extra virgin olive oil manages to combine taste and ecological culture.
SLOW FOOD PRESIDIUM “The olive growers adhering to the National Presidium for Italian extra virgin olive oil must have olive groves of local cultivars managed without synthetic fertilizers and chemical herbicides. For any treatments, products with low environmental impact are permitted, which guarantee a final residue on the product equal to zero. In the case of slopes or complex landscape situations, field work must follow good agronomic practices to avoid erosion and land landslides. Furthermore, since pruning or harvesting olives from centuries-old trees is much more expensive than young plants, to avoid the abandonment of older olive groves, the Presidium requires that at least 80% of the plants have a minimum age of 100 years. Finally, producers must equip themselves with the narrative label to tell and enhance their story, their territory and their work.”
Since the virtues of the olive tree do not stop at those of its fruit, we decided to also use the leaves of this majestic tree. Tis'Olivo is a range of herbal teas based on olive leaves, hand-picked in spring when the concentration of polyphenols is maximum. These are then dried at a very low temperature to preserve all the nutrients. Tis'Olivo are very pleasant herbal infusions with a delicate flavour.
Our range includes three variations of herbal teas: Tis'Olivo Pure, Tis'Olivo Energy and Tis'Olivo Digest. At the base of these: olive leaves grown in the natural region of Basilicata, in southern Italy, preserved from all forms of pollution. Without stimulants, these infusions can be enjoyed throughout the day, both during meals and before bed.
Tis'Olivo Energy, with liquorice and juniper berries, is perfect for recharging your vitality with its slightly peppery taste. Tis'Olivo Digest's fennel and star anise seeds make it the ideal drink to aid digestion. Tis'Olivo Pure allows you to enjoy the subtle and delicate taste of pure olive leaves, ideal for relaxation. All the plants that make up the herbal teas are grown and harvested by hand.
Packaged in resealable 40 g packs, Tis'Olivo herbal teas keep well after opening. Their preparation method is similar to that of a tea: just let it brew for 2-3 minutes, depending on the desired intensity.
